Latar
belakang dan tujuan: Beberapa isu penting muncul sekitar tahun
memfasilitasi pengembangan anak (kritis, kreatif, kooperatif,
penanganan buruh anak sekaligus pendokumentasian program.
Publikasi:
Menerbitkan beberapa buku tentang anak dan sempat mengeluarkan buletin
yang kini nonaktif.
Sumber
dana: Selain bantuan hibah dari lembaga-lembaga internasional
(misalnya Terre des Hommes, NOVIB, OXFAM Inggris, Save the Children
ECPAT International, NGO Group For The CRC (Focal Point on Sexual
Exploitation of Children). Wilayah kerjanya mencakup seluruh
Indonesia.
Staf:

Background
and purpose: Some important issues come up in 1986-1987. The
founders of SAMIN, which was formed in May 1987, saw that children
were an important issue. At that time, there was a need, or perhaps
more precisely, a demand for assistance from non-government
organizations and activists, but the founders of SAMIN did not know
where to go. At that time, there was no support group which could
provide technical assistance for handling children issues.
Accordingly, SAMIN was set up with the aim to facilitate the
development of children (so that they become critical, creative,
appreciative and emancipate/participative). Moreover, the organization
also aims to facilitate the development of social and cultural
environment as well as a political climate which are conducive to the
development of the capacity of children.
Area
and form of activities: Law, human rights, and the rights of
children are SAMIN’s main fields of activity. Gender is its
supporting field of service. All of its activities are carried out in
the forms of study, research, survey, education and training,
publication, advocacy, seminar, discussion and workshop. Development
and facilitation of children are not forgotten, although they are
included in the supporting fields of activity.
Program:
The remarkable programs carried out by SAMIN in the 1988-1996 period
included alternative education development, survey and
seminars/workshops on child prostitutes, compilation of songs and
traditional toys for children, national workshops on the rights of
children, training on the connection of the rights of children, the
handling of child laborers, and programs documentation.
Publication:
SAMIN publishes some books about children, and published a bulletin
(it no longer comes out).
Funding
sources: Grants from international agencies (like Terre des
Hommes, NOVIB, OXFAM-UK, Save the Children-Sweden, ILO-IPEC,
ECPAT-Aus, and others), the remuneration of the projects carried out
by SAMIN together with other parties, and donations from individuals
in Indonesia.
Membership
and working area: The foundation is active in Yogyakarta’s NGOs
Forum, INFID and AWDI. It is also a member of CWA, Asia Forum, ECPAT
International, NGO Group For The CRC (Focal Point on Sexual
Exploitation of Children). It operates in areas throughout Indonesia.
Staff:
SAMIN has 5 workers (4 full-time and 1 part-time). Of them, three are
professional staff members, while the other two are administration
workers.
