Latar
belakang dan tujuan:
Lembaga ini berdiri karena begitu banyaknya warga masyarakat yang
ditimpa kemiskinan, kurangnya perhatian pemerintah, serta banyaknya
peluang kegiatan yang dapat dilakukan oleh LSM. Beberapa tujuan dari
lembaga yang berdiri pada 23 Juli 1984 ini. Pertama, meningkatkan
pendapatan masyarakat. Kedua, meningkatkan pengetahuan dan sikap
kritis masyarakat. Dan ketiga, meningkatkan hasil dokumentasi kegiatan
penelitian dan pengembangan masyarakat, terutama petani, nelayan, dan
usaha mikro.
Bidang
dan bentuk kegiatan:
Bidang kegiatan utama lembaga ini adalah pertanian, kesehatan, gender,
usaha kecil dan perkoperasian, lingkungan hidup, sektor informal,
peternakan, anak, kelautan dan perikanan, serta penelitian. Sementara
kegiatan penunjang adalah air bersih dan sanitasi, hak asasi manusia,
serta pendidikan dan pelatihan. Semua dijalankan dalam bentuk
kegiatan: studi, penelitian, suvai, pendidikan dan pelatihan,
pengembangan dan pendampingan masyarakat, serta perkreditan.
Penerbitan dan publikasi, advokasi, serta seminar, diskusi, lokakarya
dijadikan bentuk kegiatan penunjang.
Program:
Program yang pernah dilaksanakan semua menyentuh akar rumput, di
antaranya: peningkatan pendapatan usaha tani dan pengembangan usaha
tani lestari. Dari sumber pendanaan yang lain diselenggarakan
program pendidikan alternatif bagi anak-anak nelayan.

Menerbitkan buletin Bares dan Pantura.
Sumber
dana:
Dana lembaga ini diperoleh dari bantuan hibah lembaga-lembaga
internasional (FADO dan TDH), pendapatan dari jasa kerja sama dengan
pihak lain, serta bunga deposito.
Keanggotaan
dan wilayah kerja:
Di tingkat regional masuk dalam Konsorsium Fair-Trade Joglosemar.
Sementara di tingkat nasional masuk dalam Jaringan LSM Pendamping
Petani. Wilayah kerjanya adalah Jawa Tengah: Surakarta, Rembang, dan
Boyolali.
Staf:
Lembaga ini mempunyai 3 orang staf tetap dan 5 orang staf tidak tetap.
Empat orang tercatat sebagai tenaga profesional dan didukung oleh 3
orang staf administrasi.

Background
and purpose:
The aims of the institute, which was set up on 23 July 1984, are (1)
increase the income of the people (2) increase people’s knowledge
and critical attitudes (3) increase the outcome of the documentation
of community researches on and development, particularly farmers,
fishermen, and the micro economy. The organization was set up because
of the so many members of the community who were impoverished, the too
small intention given by the government to them, and the great
opportunity for NGOs to carry out activities.
Area
and form of activities:
The institute’s main fields of activities are agriculture,
healthcare, gender, small enterprises and cooperatives, environment,
informal sector, animal husbandry, children, marine development and
fishery, and research. Meanwhile, its supporting fields of activity
are clean water and sanitation, human rights, education and training.
All activities in those fields are carried out in the form of study,
research, survey, education and training, community development and
facilitation, and credit provision. The forms of the supporting fields
of activities are publication, advocacy, seminar, discussion, and
workshop.
Program:
Any programs carried out by the institute deal with the grassroots
people. They include the activities for increasing the income of
farmers, and the development of sustainable farming. The organization
also carries out an alternative education for the children of
fishermen.
Publication:
LSK-BINA BAKAT publishes two bulletins, Bares and Pantura.
Funding
sources:
The institute’s activities are financed with grant funds from
international funding agencies like FADO and TDH, the remuneration of
the project the institute carries out together with other parties, and
deposit interests.
Membership
and working area:
At the regional level, LSK-BINA BAKAT is a member of Consortium
Fair-Trade Joglosemar. Meanwhile, at the national level, it is
associated with the Network of Farmers Facilitators. It operates in
Central Java (Surakarta, Rembang and Boyolali).
Staff:
The institute has 3 full-time and 5 part-time staff members. They
include 4 professional and 3 administrative workers.
