Latar
belakang dan tujuan: Lembaga yang berdiri pada 16 Agustus 1993
ini, dilatarbelakangi oleh ketimpangan pembangunan regional antara
Jawa dan Luar Jawa. Adapun tujuannya antara lain menggalakkan
pembangunan desa, regional dan kota metropolis di luar Jawa dan
berupaya mewujudkan pembangunan tersebut terutama di Indonesia Timur
yang akselerasinya dapat membawa pada perubahan pola kebiasaan
migrasi, urbanisasi, transmigrasi dan kesempatan kerja, yang tadinya
bersifat Jawa sentris.
Bidang
dan bentuk kegiatan: Bidang kegiatan utama lembaga ini adalah
planologi dan arsitektur desa. Sedangkan bentuk kegiatannya terutama
adalah studi, penelitian atau survai dan advokasi. Sementara
penerbitan/publikasi dan seminar, diskusi atau lokakarya merupakan
bentuk kegiatan penunjang.
Program:
Program-program lembaga ini lebih banyak bersifat konsep, seperti
penelitian tentang planologi dan arsitektur. Oleh karena itu program
yang giat dilakukan adalah melakukan sosialisasi manfaat planologi dan
arsitektur. Salah satu kegiatan yang sifatnya faktual adalah
pengembangan tata ruang dan arsitektur pondok pesantren.

Menerbitkan buku: Masalah Tata Ruang Pusat Desa Transmigrasi: Studi
Kasus Batumarta Unit VI, Sumatera Selatan 1988, (1999) Metropolitan
Phobia (1994). Pembangunan Metropolis Baru Kawasan Indonesia Timur
(1994). Masalah Kebijakan Riset Pengentasan Kemiskinan: Studi Kasus
Desa Ritit, Flores (1995). Model Tata Ruang Pusat Kegiatan Desa
Non-Pertanian; dan Pembangunan Ruko Desa (1996), dan lain-lain.
Sumber
dana: Satu-satunya sumber dana yang diandalkan lembaga ini adalah
iuran atau sumbangan anggota.
Keanggotaan
dan wilayah kerja: Tidak tersedia informasi keanggotaan lembaga
ini. Wilayah kerja lembaga ini mencakup seluruh Indonesia.
Staf:
Lembaga ini memiliki 16 orang staf, dengan kategori: menurut status 14
staf tetap, 2 staf tidak tetap, menurut fungsi 13 staf profesional dan
3 staf administrasi.

Background
and purpose: CENDRES was founded on 16 August 1993 in response to
the gap of development between Java and other islands. The center aims
to promote the development of rural villages, the regions and
metropolises outside of Java, and endeavor to materialize that
development in eastern Indonesia in particular. Accelerating the
development of the region can lead to changes in the patterns of
migration, urbanization, transmigration and job opportunities, which
are centered in Java.
Area
and form of activities: Planology and architecture are the only
field of activity of CENDRES. Meanwhile, the activities are carried
out mainly in the forms of study, research or survey and advocacy.
Publication, seminar, discussion or workshop are the forms of its
supporting activities.
Program:
The greatest portion of the center’s programs is characteristically
concepts, like research on planology and architecture. Accordingly,
the programs actively carried out by CENDRES at present are socialize
the usefulness of planology and architecture. Among the activities
factually carried out by the center are the development of the layout
and architecture of pesantren compounds.

Funding
sources: Membership dues and donation from members are the only
source of funds for CENDREDS to carry out its activities.

CENDREDS has 16 staff members, who are comprised of 14 full-time and 2
part-time workers. Meanwhile, according to their function, they are
comprised of 13 professional staff members and 3 administration
workers.
